Newsletter Spring 2026
New Season Begins
We returned to training in early February, and numbers have been high! On February 16th around 30 people attended training for Football and Hurling. Along with a new committee, we have a new coaching panel for the 2026 season, along with new players both Irish and non-Irish, and new possibilities. Planning is ongoing for the 2026 season, with tournaments and friendlies on the agenda. We have the talent to go for silverware this year!
Socials & Bowling
Our social events kicked off with a ‘Big Lebowski’ themed bowling night at Die Allee Wien. This is the first of several events being organised for the year, after a new position was made on our committee- the Social and Events Officer – which for 2026 is coordinated by Ruairi Devereaux Heddon. This will give our members a chance to spend time with each other off the pitch, and create a sense of community within our club. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming socials and feel free to come along!
Handball
On November 29th we hosted our home Handball tournament in Vienna, which was a big success! They have kicked on into 2026 with silverware already at the Brno tournament in January- with special mentions to Clari Espinosa, SImon Atkinson, Alvaro Villardon, and Cian Scollard for their title wins. With high numbers attending trainings in the first months of this year, the Winter Handball League is currently underway. This is running until the end of March, and gives our players the opportunity to play matches more consistently, in order to remain sharp for tournaments later on in the year. Our Handball team is proudly sponsored by Drei Bogen
St Patricks Day

This year the Gaels will be marking Paddy’s day with a pub quiz at Charlie P’s pub on Friday, March 13th. Furthermore, we will be taking part in the St.Patricks Day parade right here in Vienna, on Saturday March 14th. The parade will begin from Schottenkirche at 11:45 and head through Herren-gasse, Schauflergasse, and conclude at Josef Meinrad- Platz (Burgtheater). This will be followed by an afterparty at The Long Hall pub, with the viewing of the final day of the Six Nations.
New Partnership with McKeever Sports
We are delighted announce our new partnership with McKeever Sports as our official club supplier. This is a great step forward for the club and will support all codes- football, hurling, camogie, and handball as they continue to grow. Our ladies teams will soon wear the first new kit tailored by our in house fashion designer Lorna Curran, and this collaboration will inclue an official online club shop with new club items, We are excited to develop with parnertship with McKeever Sports!
